I'm Not Afraid....If you're there

Today I went out of town to a hospital to be with my 5 year old niece who was getting her tonsils taken out. I was made aware of something absolutely beautiful that inspired me to think of the relationship between us as children and God as our father.

Here is the story:

My neice's daddy told me that when they were together waiting for the doctor to come in the room and "knock her out", the two of them had a discussion. More appropriately named "a signed contract". ;) He asked her "Are you scared?" She said "Will you stay with me?" He answered "Yes." She asked "Will you be here with me when I wake up?" He answered "Yes." Her reply was "Then I'm not scared."

What does that make you think of? Let me help you out, just in case you are having trouble seeing the comparison here. I picture a Christian having enough faith in God and His ability to protect and comfort, that they would say to God "If you will be with me, I won't be afraid. If you go with me, I will go."

How beautiful and lovely to see the connection between a father and his child!
